About the Class

You learned the fundamentals of improv in our 101 class, then spent 6 weeks focusing on characters in 102. After that, it was on to 103, where you learned about building relationships and clear objectives onstage. So what’s next?

In Improv 104, you’ll spend more time learning about the “game of the scene” - in other words, identifying the funny thing that’s happening, targeting it, and heightening it together as a team. You’ll also learn about environment, and space and object work — tools that make for a more believable scene. Plus you’ll be introduced to some of the basic forms that are common in longform improv.

This is a great way to sharpen your skills as an individual player, and as a reliable and funny scene partner. Jump in!

About the Instructor

Tobin Mollett is an actor and comedian from Fairbanks, Alaska, now living in Vermont. His improv education comes from several of the major schools in New York: UCB, Magnet, Annoyance, and the Groundlings-based Improvolution.

Tobin was a member of Reckless Theater’s house teams Rialto and Omnino, and played in multiple projects at the theater, including the partially-improvised theatrical productions of A Christmas Carol and 1984.

In addition to teaching at VCC, he often performs a one-man improvised fairy tale show called “Tobin Tales.”
