You've gotten a taste of standup comedy - either by taking Level 1 standup, or by performing at open mics and showcases for the past 6 - 24 months. Now you want to take it up a notch.

In our Advanced Standup Intensive, students will perform for each other in a supportive environment, write and hone material together, and get expert criticism on style, content, delivery and stage presence.

Instructed by Nathan Hartswick.

About the Instructor

Nathan Hartswick is a native Vermonter with extensive experience as a performer and educator. As a standup comic, Nathan won the "Best VT Standup Comic" Daysie (readers' choice award) from Seven Days in 2012 and 2013. He was a semi-finalist in the Funniest Comic in New England contest in 2012, and the grand prize winner of the 2011 Higher Ground Comedy Battle.

In 2009, Nathan and his wife Natalie Miller founded a booking agency to produce and promote comedy in Vermont (including the annual Vermont's Funniest Comedian contest and the Green Mountain Comedy Festival). The two began teaching classes in comedy in 2011. In the fall of 2015 they opened Vermont Comedy Club, a 160-seat standup and improv comedy club in the heart of downtown Burlington. In addition to operating the business day to day, they teach comedy classes and perform with The Unmentionables, the club's MainStage long form improv comedy troupe.

Nathan has studied comedy with some of the country's foremost instructors from Upright Citizens Brigade, The Second City, iO and more.
